It is hard enough to have a sick child in the family . Then to have financial worries on top of that can be almost too hard to handle. Following are some places where you will hopefully be able to find assistance to help take over some of the financial challenges for you.

Here is a wonderful service for children and teens who may be physically ill , emotionally compromised or going through a tough life experience. It is called Songs of Love. It is a free service where songwriters will write a song just for your child or teen . To learn more , go here :

- Shriners Hospitals for Children
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 pediatric hospitals in the U.S., Canada and Mexico providing specialized care for orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate. All services are provided at no charge.
Eligibility for care is not based on financial need or relationship to a Shriner."

All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family's ability to pay. St. Jude covers all costs of treatment at St. Jude beyond those reimbursed by third-party insurers, and total costs at St. Jude when no insurance is available. St. Jude also provides assistance with transportation costs and local living expenses during treatments (see Travel and Where to Stay in Related Topics).

HELP FOR FAMILIES WITH CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN
- Jessica's Hope Chest, Inc.
"(a foundation for critically ill children) is dedicated to helping critically ill children up to the age of eighteen (18) years old (but not past the child's eighteenth birthday). Jesica's Hope Chest, will assist families with critically ill children and help cover costs of necessities which are not covered by private medical insurance and/or government medical assistance programs . We will help cover the cost of transportation to and from medical facilities, and help fund housing costs when medical treatment is at a hospital far from home. We will also help families purchase specialized equipment and formulas. Below is a list of other activities that Jesica's Hope Chest, Inc. (A Foundation for Critically Ill Children) will be providing but shall not be limited to;
Assist child life specialist with activities and interact with children and families in the children's medical centers and pediatric clinics.
Assist patients, families, and staff members with locating appropriate health related information (books, journals, internet information, etc.)
Serve as liaison between patients and staff members in the identification of potential patient needs, problems, or complaints.
Provide follow up services, such as helping families cover the cost of lifesaving medications for children up to the age of (18) eighteen.
Help locate Universities, hospital and/or other child help organizations who may provide financial assistance for major surgical procedures, and other lifesaving medical needs. "

Family must demonstrate that they do not have the resources to afford a vehicle on their own and show a good driving record. They will also be required to carry car insurance.
Although we have been successful in placing a number of used vans for clients looking for accessible transportation, in the past; we can make no guarantees as to availability, time frame or location of the vehicles. As one may imagine, the number of requests exceeds the number of donations. Your submission of a request will put your name in process for evaluation.

"WOW (WINNERS ON WHEELS) was established in 1991 as a non profit organization for children who use wheelchairs.
WOW is a social/recreation program designed to assist children in developing positive self-esteem and to promote independence through attendance at Circle meetings.
WOW Circle Meetings provide a structure for Winners to try new endeavors at least twice a month with the leadership of trained volunteers.
WOW Curriculum includes a progression of challenges, activities and awards for children as they set attainable goals for themselves and experience personal achievements.
WOW Winners make new friends in their Circles as they also make new discoveries about themselves."

"The Challenged America
Website is a medium through which disadvantaged, physically challenged children (or with help from parents) submit requests for medical attention, rehabilitative therapy and/or assistive devices they would otherwise be unable to obtain. The benefits to the children go far beyond the physical. Assistance from Challenged America can improve their quality of life, help them gain confidence and self-esteem, and ease their reentry into the community. The encouragement and support from Randy and his organization, alone, can result in their becoming inspired to conquer adversity and lead productive and rewarding lives."

GRANT APPLICATION FORM FOR THE CHALLENGED AMERICA

may be used for modest awards for assistive devices, rehabilitative services, arts and humanities projects, or for efforts to bolster compliance with existing laws for the benefit of children with disabilities. Guidelines for Direct Family Support
PURPOSE
The purpose of “direct family support” is to provide a source of financial assistance to families of pediatric patients, ages 0-21, suffering from liver disease who are unable to afford necessary services. It is intended as a source of funds after all other avenues have been exhausted.

I don't usually list for-profit organizations , however , this is a great product if you have a child with allergies and sensitivities. It is all natural play dough . In all natural scents. They also make one for children who need gluten free dough . A great offering for children who would love to use a play dough but haven't been able to because of an allergy or sensitivity that may make their condition worse ( such a ADHD) They are also wonderful aromatherapy. I think that many adults would love it too. I am thinking of getting some ; )
